Airwars Assessment
On October 16, 2023, reports indicated that at least two civilians were killed during an alleged Israeli army shelling in the Wadi Saber area, south of Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.
Multiple local sources, including WAFA and @ShehabAgency, reported that the victims were two brothers from the Abu Mustafa family who were killed in the attack. Ambulance crews reportedly were unable to reach or evacuate the victims due to the dangerous conditions in the area at the time of the incident. A Facebook post from Mahmoud Abu Zanada Media Platform referred to the brothers as “young men”. There were no additional details found among local sources about the victims.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the attack to the Israeli military.
