On 16 May 2024, multiple local news outlets cited the Gaza General Directorate of Civil Defense in reporting that an individual at the home of the “Al-Wahidi” family in the Al-Houja (Al-Hawja) area of Jabalia Refugee Camp in North Gaza was rescued by a civil defense fire crew after being hit by alleged Israeli artillery fire. All sources identified the belligerent as being the Israeli military.

A video of the incident shows the individual being carried on a stretcher, indicating that he was injured and was being brought for medical attention. None of the sources reporting on this incident provided a name for the individual.

According to the sources, the civil defense fire crew also extinguished a fire in the home of the Al-Wahidi family.
