During the evening of 28 February 2026, at least eight civilians were injured in Qatar due to falling debris from an alleged Iranian missile after its interception by Qatar.
Out of the eight reported injuries, one person was injured critically. Four were reported to have been taken to hospital and were subsequently discharged.
According to local sources and official statements from the Qatari Ministry of Interior, the incident occurred when shrapnel from an intercepted unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) fell over a residential neighbourhood in the capital.
While the Qatari Ministry of the Interior reported eight injuries in a post to their official site, Al Jazeera, citing authorities, said that 16 individuals had been wounded. This has been recorded in the upper range of those reportedly injured in this incident, and will be updated should additional information become available.
A video shared by @buzzardalii shows Qatari air defenses intercepting the missiles, which burst in the sky. Where sources identified civilian harm, all sources attributed the injuries to “falling Iranian fragments”.
In this incident, local sources reported that harm resulted from falling Iranian missile debris after a Qatari interception. In line with Airwars’ methodology, strike status has been recorded as ‘likely’ as sources agree that the original missiles were launched by the Iranian military, and intercepted by the Qatari military. As it is unclear whether the resulting harm should be attributed to the original missile or interception, the civilian harm status for such incidents has been recorded as ‘contested’.

He stressed that targeting civilians or exposing them to danger, directly or indirectly, constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law and is unacceptable and condemnable under any circumstances or justification.Al Hashmi concluded by noting that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed the State of Qatar's call for the immediate cessation of any military or escalatory actions, a return to the negotiating table, the exercise of reason and wisdom, and urgent efforts to contain the crisis in a manner that preserves regional security, safeguards the interests of its peoples, and prevents a slide into broader confrontations with serious consequences for regional and international peace and security.
