On Saturday 28th March 2026, 33-year-old Ahmed Fayez Salem Abu Rida was killed and another person was injured by an alleged Israeli airstrike on a civilian vehicle, west of Bani Suheila roundabout, east of Khan Younis.
Of the local sources found, the Facebook account ‘Nurse Haneen Alkass’ was the first to report the incident at 2:22 p.m., marking the information as “urgent.” Local news source @quds_feed reported the airstrike took place outside the yellow line, east of Khan Younis. Facebook accounts ‘Eastern Youth Gathering’ and ‘Nuseirat bring us together’ reported that it was Ahmed’s car that was struck.
Ahmed’s name and age were matched to the lists of fatalities shared online by Shireen Monitor and Genocide in Gaza.
Among the local sources found, a photograph of Ahmed was shared by multiple accounts, it shows Ahmed as a young man with short dark hair and a beard, wearing a bright red Nike zip up jacket. In the photograph Ahmed is holding his hand up in a peace sign, it also appears that he is standing up through the sunroof of a vehicle.
According to the Facebook account ‘My grandmother Aisha’, Ahmed was a resident of Khuza’a, and the Facebook account ‘Eastern Province Platform’ reported the “#Martyrdom of a son of Sharqia”.
A video was posted by the Facebook accounts ‘My grandmother Aisha’ and ‘Alarabiya Palestine’, which shows men on a donkey and trailer quickly escorting a large bundled dark grey blanket, possibly with the remains of Ahmed inside, and a man who is holding the blanket is seen in distress. Two men can also be seen gathered around the bundled blanket and they are visibly upset, and it appears they may be in a hospital as someone next to them is wearing medical scrubs.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to the Israeli military. According to the website Genocide in Gaza, the strike happened without prior warning and the incident resulted in “a number of other martyrs,” as well as Ahmed, while all other local news sources found reported that Ahmed as the only civilian killed by the strike. The additional deaths have not been quantified in this incident as it is possible they were included in another incident.
