On Monday, March 2, 2026, a child and several emergency response workers were injured in an alleged U.S. and/or Israeli strike on the Tehran Province Emergency Organisation building on Iranshahr Street in Tehran, Iran. One of the victims was identified as Dr. Mohammad Ismail Tavakkoli, head of the organisation which is responsible for medical rescue and ambulance dispatch in the region. The names and conditions of the other casualties were not found among local sources.
Around midday on March 2, Tasnim News reported via Telegram that “a few minutes ago, the Tehran Province Emergency Building on Iranshahr Street was attacked, and nearby buildings were targeted by a missile attack.” According to the outlet, “very serious damage was inflicted on the Tehran Emergency Building, but Tehran Province Emergency Services continues to provide emergency services to citizens. Unfortunately, several emergency workers were injured in this incident, but most of them are in good general condition.” The post also included a photo showing four adults, including two uniformed paramedics, attending to an injured child. A video posted on Instagram by @khabarmehvar.ir and @pooyapress appears to show a man carrying the same child past a group of emergency responders. The clip clearly depicts the child with a bleeding head wound. Shortly after, @mehrnews posted a photo (also via Telegram) of a middle-aged man wearing a white emergency medical services uniform and reported that several emergency response workers were injured.
SNN, citing the spokesperson for the Tehran Provincial Emergency Organization, reported that “the head of the organization and several colleagues were injured [and] a number of organization personnel were also injured.” According to the news outlet, Mohammad Ismail Tavakkoli, Head of the Tehran Provincial Emergency Organization, was injured in the back and hand.” News outlets Asr Iran and Jam Jam Nama published a video showing Mohammad, wearing a navy t-shirt or scrubs with an EMS insignia and with his arm in a sling, visiting the Ambulance Communication and Guidance Center and greeting staff there after the strike.
A video shared by @ali.chahe on Instagram shows one of the paramedics, a man in a medical uniform, walking on a street with a wound in his head. The stains of blood are seen on the white collar of his shirt.
According to @IranNewspaper, there was a serious fire in the emergency building.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the strikes to the U.S. and/or Israeli military.
