On midnight March 6th, beginning at 7:15 pm and continuing till the 7th, the Russian military allegedly bombarded Kharkiv, with shelling setting approximately 21 residential buildings on fire in areas like Karbyshey lane, Moskovsky Propsekt and the Maidan of the Hundred Heavenly Heroes. State Emergency Services reported 8 people, pulled from the rubble, dead.
News sources like MNS.GOV.UA, Slovodilo Objectiv Tv, Segodnya News, corroborated the details of the incident. In Karbyshey lane, 2 of the 3 fires affected a 15 and 4 storey building respectively and a Kharkov Musical College on the Gymnasicheskaya embankment were damaged. In Moksovsky Propsect, 10 fires burnt a multi-storey residential building, a student dormitory and a medical facility. 4 of the 7 fires in Maidan of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred were at residential buildings. The pictures depicted serious damage to to Maidan of the Heroes, with debris and broken monuments.
State emergency services made between 40-60 trips to extinguish fires and pull people from the rubble.
