On the evening of May 2, 2023, Israeli forces reportedly bombed sites in Gaza. Among the areas affected was north of Al-Shati, a refugee camp situated along the Mediterranean coastline in the north of Gaza. According to news reports and social media users, a 58-year-old resident of the site named Hashel Mubarak was killed as a result of this action.
In their coverage of this incident published the following day, Sanad News outlined the events that occurred, stating “Yesterday evening, the family of the martyr “Mubarak” reported that the deceased, “Hashem”, had arrived at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City in a serious condition, after a stone fell on the left side of his body. Following the heavy shelling in the northern Gaza Strip.” According to local news reports, the civilian was at home when initially injured and died after being relocated to a local hospital.
Al Jazeera (@ajmubasher) reported that Israeli planes launched six missiles at the Safina area, northwest of Gaza, and all of the other sources attributed the bombing to Israeli forces.

Reports of the incident mention the area of Al Safina (السفينة) – “the Ship” – a building north of Al Shati camp (مخيّم الشاطئ), for which the generic coordinates are: 31.546801, 34.459468. Due to limited satellite imagery and information available to Airwars, we were unable to verify the location further.
