One civilian was killed and between five and 10 civilians, including two children, were injured by Israeli airstrikes on Al-Nasr neighborhood in Gaza City on May 12, 2023. Two Islamic Jihad militants were also killed in the airstrikes.
Al-Mezan reported that Israeli planes bombed “a residential apartment located on the fifth floor in the northwestern side of Baniyas Building, consisting of (6) floors, located in Al-Nasr neighborhood, west of Gaza City, which resulted in the death of Iyad al-Abd al-Hassani (51 years old) and the citizen: Muhammad Walid Muhammad Abd al-Aal (33 years old) and they were mourned by the Islamic Jihad Movement. Five other citizens, including two children, were wounded, and the shelling caused material damage to a number of nearby houses and facilities.”
The Palestinian Information Center reported that a large fire broke out inside of the apartment after the bombardment, and that the Ministry of Health in Gaza reported the arrival at Al-Shifa Hospital of two dead and five wounded. However, Hadf News put the number of killed at three and Alkhamisa provided the highest toll of three killed and at least ten injured.
Shehab Agency quoted a statement from Al-Qassam Brigades and the Al-Quds Brigades mourning the loss of Iyad al-Abd al-Hassani, “a member of the Military Council and responsible for the Operations Unit of the Al-Quds Brigade.”
