Up to eight civilians, including two hospital employees, four women, and two children, were injured by alleged Israeli airstrikes on the city center of Deir Al-Balah on May 12, 2023.
According to Al-Mezan, an Israeli warplane struck the home of 46 year old Yahya Kamel Abu Obeid at about 20:35. The shell destroyed the home and the force of the explosion damaged the ambulance and emergency building of the Ministry of Health as well as sections of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, wounding two employees, nursing supervisor Khalil al-Dagran (57) and electrician Hani Abu Swerh (47) who works in the maintenance department of the hospital. Their injuries were described as “slight,” along with those of four women and two children who were also wounded but not identified. The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital Facebook page included images of the damage.
@ShehabAgency quoted their corresponded who reported that seven civilians were slightly injured during the bombing.
Journalist Youssef Abu Maghaiseeb released a message from the Minister of Health, Dr. Mai Al-Kaila, noting that hospital departments were destroyed and the Director General of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital stated that partial damage occurred in several departments inside the hospital, including the intensive care department.
