A possible US strike outside the FATA area in Jani Khel, Bannu Frontier Region,  reportedly injured Egyptian al Qaeda leader and ideologue Shaykh Issa al Masri, international media reported.

Dawn reported that the US has struck the area with an Predator drone.

Any secret agreement between the US and Pakistan allowing for drone strikes is believed only to cover the tribal areas – making this a particularly sensitive attack. Details only later emerged via a leaked US intelligence document.

There were no reports of civilian harm.
