Early in the morning on June 3rd 2025, an alleged Israeli airstrike struck a residential apartment in the al-Mashru’ area in the al-Amal neighborhood, west of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, killing at least two civilians and injuring three others.
Safa News initially reported in the early hours of June 3rd that an Israeli airstrike hit the al-Amal neighbourhood, killing one person and injuring others. The same news outlet updated their information just over an hour later detailing that the attack had struck the al-Mashru’ area, killing Mohammed Ahmed Hassan al-Shaqaqi (Abu Ahmed) and injuring three more civilians. Journalist Mohamed Awad provided a similar injury toll of three civilians, though noted a death toll of one.
Multiple sources referenced al-Shaqaqi by name, including on posts by multiple relatives widely mourning his loss online. Hala Ismail Shafqa al-Mashoukhi was also reported killed in the al-Amal neighbourhood. Family members described Hala as “a rose escorted as a martyr to heaven.”
Maysoun Diab Awad offered condolences to their friend of Fadwa Jouda for the tragic death of her husband Mohammed al-Shaqaqi. The post included an image of a middle aged man wearing a button-up blue shirt under a brown jacket.
Photographs posted by locals showed a residential block reduced to rubble with smoke rising from the debris, but no close-up images of casualties were released.
Where possible, names have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, names are matched to the first ‘Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza’ list, which was released on October 26, 2023. The ages of additional victims have been found by cross-checking names against lists of fatalities shared online by Genocide in Gaza, which has a list of “martyrs” of Israeli forces.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the attack to the Israeli military.
