Multiple social media reports highlighted an Israeli artillery shelling east of Al Maghazi in the central Gaza Strip, resulting in casualties – including one death. On October 28th, 2023, Twitter/X user @PalinfoAr reported on an artillery shelling east of Al Maghazi in the central Gaza Strip, which led to injuries and a fatality. The Facebook page Palestine TV shared images of the injured and deceased people. In the images, friends and family can be seen mourning the body of one of the victims, wrapped in a shroud and loaded on a truck. In other images, a young man is being treated by doctors for a bleeding wound while one other injured man and an injured child are seen covered in blood – it is unclear if they were injured and are waiting for treatment or helped with the rescue of the other victims.
The name of the victim was not publicly reported. This assessment will be updated if more information emerges.
On the same day, similar reports were made by the Facebook pages Alhayaps, Paltodayps, and X user @Palestine_graph, all confirming “One martyr and a number of injuries in an Israeli artillery shelling.” Additionally, the Facebook page Hani Alshaer reported injuries resulting from the shelling of houses east of Al-Maghazi camp.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to Israeli forces.
The local time of the incident is unknown.
