Five children from the al-Qudra family, two boys, two girls and one infant, were reportedly killed and both of their parents seriously injured in an alleged Israeli airstrike on their family home near the Al Albani mosque, west of Khan Younis, on the afternoon of Sunday 29th October 2023.
Whilst several sources, including the Palestinian Press Agency (SAFA), initially reported that the strike had led to two deaths and multiple injuries, it was later reported by sources including family members, such as Yousef Elqedra [al-Qudra], that five civilians had died and two were left injured.
Those who were identified to have been killed in the airstrike on their family home were five siblings from the al-Qudra family. Nagham Muhammad Abdul Hakim al-Qudra (16 years old) was killed alongside her younger sister Remas Muhammad Abdul Hakim al-Qudra (15 years old) and her two younger brothers Ahmed Muhammad Abdel Hakim al-Qudra (13 years old) and Abdul Rahman Muhammad Abdul Hakim al-Qudra (7 years old). Their youngest brother, infant Abdullah Muhammad Abdul Hakim al-Qudra (between one and four months old) was initially reported to be in intensive care, but later died of his wounds.
The parents of the five siblings, Muhammad Abdul Hakim al-Qudra and his wife Saida Hussein al-Qudra were left seriously injured in intensive care. Sources did not identify which hospital they were taken to.
A very graphic image posted on the Facebook page of ‘Members of the Musabih Family in the Homeland and the Diaspora – Palestine’ depicted a deceased infant, presumed to be Abdullah Muhammad Abdul Hakim al-Qudra.
Meanwhile, a video posted on the al-Qudra Family Facebook page shows the burial of Nagham Muhammad Abdul Hakim al-Qudra, Remas Muhammad Abdul Hakim al-Qudra, Ahmed Mohamed Abdel Hakim al-Qudra, and Abdul Rahman Abdul Hakim al-Qudra. The video shows the bodies of the four young siblings wrapped in white sheets whilst a large group of men dig graves in sandy ground. The bodies are then lowered into the graves, which are subsequently sealed with concrete slabs. Alongside the video, the family wrote “May God have mercy on them and your sincere prayers for their parents to recover.”
Meanwhile, Mahdi al-Qudra, writing on Facebook, mourned the loss of the five children who were killed and wished “a speedy recovery” to his cousin Muhammad Abdul Hakim al-Qudra and his wife Saida Hussein al-Qudra.
