Shortly before 4.20pm on 31st October 2023, 51-year-old Yasser Ezzat Abdel Hadi was killed and 4 others were injured when an alleged Israeli gunboat shelled citizens’ homes in the al-Ezba area in al-Mawasi on the coast of the Rafah sea, Gaza.
Only one source, social media user Alaa Alaa, identified the victim Yasser Ezzat Abdel Hadit. X/Twitter user @YouthGoDigital and Facebook user Ahmadgaza94117 alleged ‘martyrs”, indicating more than one person may have been killed. Additionally, multiple sources mentioned 4 injuries but the victims have not yet been identified. Twitter user @Hamzaalnamla reported that the victims were reportedly taken to al-Najjar Hospital to receive treatment.
Several news outlets and social media accounts reported that the ‘intensive’ and ‘random’ shelling hit citizens’ homes in the al-Mawasi area, specifically by boats off the cost and which specifically struck behind Bahlol station.
Yasser Hadi was matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Since October 26, 2023 the MoH has released nine lists, along with an additional list of medical professionals, which was released on September 17, 2024. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, Hadi was matched to the second ‘Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza’ list, which was released on January 7th, 2024.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all pointed to the Israeli military.
