Airwars assessment
As many as 15 civilians, all from the Habib family, were reportedly killed and 25 others were wounded after Israeli aircraft allegedly bombed a four-storey building in the Zaytoun neighbourhood of Gaza City on October 31st, 2023.
A video of a man holding two lifeless young children, bloodied and seemingly covered in dust from the reported multi-storey building collapse, was posted by a number of sources.
Twitter/X user @AinYemen was precise about the location of the incident, placing the Habib family home “near Abu Habib roundabout at the end of Al-Nadim Street in Al-Zeitoun neighbourhood in Gaza”.
Most sources put the death toll at 15 casualties, though @AinYemen tweeted that 11 civilians had been killed, with 25 wounded and a number missing.
Mooab News also reported that a number of individuals were still under the rubble when they reported that 15 civilians had been killed. Multiple sources posted an appeal to ambulances to arrive due to the “large number” of deaths and injuries.
There was little specific detail on the identities of the victims. Moha Habib said that “all the martyrs are women and children” on Facebook. He started his post with the words “They were sleeping and now they sleep forever”. This assessment will be updated if further information about the victims comes to light.
Multiple sources named the Israeli military as the belligerent, reporting that Israeli aircraft were responsible for the incident.
The local time of the incident is unknown.
