On November 1, 2023, the injured daughter of the Palestinian doctor Al-Hakimah Ghada Abu Eida working in the emergency department at the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza was discovered by her mother as she was brought to the hospital – Dr. Ghada’s daughter was allegedly injured by an Israeli airstrike. It is possible that more of Dr. Ghada’s children were also killed and wounded in the strike.

The video shared by many social media users showed Dr. Ghada Abu Eida walking through the hospital when she noticed paramedics carrying her injured daughter on a stretcher. Visibly distressed, she ran after the paramedics, screaming hysterically, until she lost consciousness. According to Alarabiya News, while the doctors and the rest of the medical team tried to help her and reassure her that her daughter was fine, they said, “By God, you are fine, Umm Ahmed.” While no age is given for Dr. Ghada’s daughter, she appears to be under the age of 18.

According to sources, her daughter was injured in an incident involving Israeli forces; the location of the incident is unclear. Facebook user Samia Rommene alleged that Dr. Ghada’s daughter was injured in the Israeli bombing of their home in the Gaza Strip. The Facebook page for Al Jazeera Mubasher alleged that Dr. Ghada’s children were “killed and wounded” but no other sources mentioned deaths. However, a tweet from @Nour_abudalla also mentioned that “two daughters” of Dr. Ghada arrived at the hospital.

Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to the Israeli military.
