Airwars Assessment
In the late afternoon on Sunday, December 8, 2024, an alleged Israeli military action, possibly a drone strike, reportedly struck the Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip with bullets. At least two people who were receiving treatment at the hospital were injured, and medical staff may have been injured as well.
News agency Safa reported the incident at 4:22 p.m., writing about two injuries in the hospital as a result of an Israeli drone strike. Social media users also reported casualties from the incident, stating: “Two wounded by [Israeli] bullets while receiving treatment at Kamal Adwan Hospital, north of the Gaza Strip.”
Al Jazeera quoted hospital director Dr. Hussam Abu Safia, who announced that Israeli forces targeted the hospital with a barrage of shells, wounding medical staff and patients, destroying water, oxygen, and fuel tanks, and cutting off electricity.
The exact number of casualties remains unclear, with sources reporting a minimum of two wounded, though Dr. Abu Safia’s statement suggests additional medical staff and patients may have been injured. Radio Masr, quoting Dr. Abu Safia, reported three injuries inside the hospital.
Where sources identified belligerents, all sources attribute the incident to the Israeli military.
