On November 2, 2023, two civilians were killed in alleged Israeli shelling of Al Fukhari, a town southeast of Khan Younis. The individuals, identified as Amjad Musleh Khalil Abu Thabet (Abu Jad) and a woman from the Al Jurmi family were taken to the Gaza European Hospital. According to the “Abu Thabet family gathering” Facebook account, “children” were also injured in the shelling of “citizens homes” and wished those that were wounded a “speedy recovery”.

Following the news of the incident, friends and family took to social media to mourn the loss of their loved ones. Jbara Thabet posted to Facebook remembering his “beloved cousin with a kind heart” and asked that “Allah have mercy on [his] soul”. The Abu Thabet family gathering also memorialized Amjad who was reportedly killed in his home. The post included an image of Amjad, a young man wearing black pants and a black shirt.

While no source gives an explicit mention of a belligerent, multiple sources refer to the attack as a “bombing” and “artillery shelling” which are terms used to describe intentional strikes by Israeli forces and reflect Israeli capabilities. Therefore, this incident has been graded as a “likely strike”.

Amjad’s name was not found on the Palestinian Ministry of Health list of fatalities.
