Airwars assessment
An alleged Israeli airstrike on the Abu Jamous family home, near the Sahaba Mosque and in the Armida area of Bani Suhaila, Khan Younis, killed two women and injured many others during the early afternoon on November 3rd 2023. The two victims were 62-year-old Raeesa Juma Abu Jamous and her daughter or niece 30-year-old Asma Fawzi Abu Jamous.
Family members and loved ones posted their condolences over the news of the women’s deaths, including Mohammed al-Najjar Abu Adel, who spoke of the death of his aunt, Raeesa, and his cousin, Asma. Asmaa was a kindergarten teacher at the Al-Noor Quranic Kindergarten. Rawdat al-Nur al-Qurani spoke of her friend and colleague Asmaa, as a “virtuous teacher, the owner of [a] beautiful smile and good character”, extending her sympathy to Asmaa’s family for their loss. Another friend, Mahabat Allah, voiced her disbelief at the loss, citing Asmaa as her “love and friend”.
Visual evidence showcasing the aftermath of the reported Israeli bombing depict extensive destruction of the family home, now reduced to rubble. Multiple images posted by @PalinfoAr also show that a bulldozer had to be used to sort through the rubble of the home, and a crater can be seen where the home used to be.
While none of the sources provided an injury toll for the incident, multiple local sources referred to “a number of” injuries while @Qudsn_Brk reported that “many others” were injured.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to Israeli forces.
Both names were matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health list of fatalities in Gaza in the iteration first released on January 7, 2024.
The local time of the incident is unknown.
