Airwars assessment
On Saturday, November 4, 2023, Israeli forces allegedly bombed the gate of Al-Nasr Children’s Hospital west of Gaza killing at least four civilians and injuring others.
Initial reports tallied the dead at two, however, following the incident, the names of those killed were published on social media. Airwars researchers identified 45-year-old Mohammed Jabr Muqbil as one of those killed in the incident, whilst sources also named his older brother, 64-year-old Jamal Jabr Muqbil, his nephew, 12-year-old Mustafa Jamal Jabr Muqbil, and Jamal’s son’s wife, 35-year-old Tagrhreed Muqbil as further casualties in the incident.
Following the news of the bombing, friends and family took to social media to mourn the loss of their loved ones. Mohammed Abu Ahmed Alhalees and Samer Qais stated that the Muqbil family had lost “a group of kind and gentle hearts”, with Jamal remembered as “the best [of] men”. Special mention was made of Mustafa Jamal Muqbil by Samer Qais who reminisced that the boy was the “apple of his eye”, was like a “little brother” to him, and was “still a child”. In both posts, photos of Mohammed, Jamal, and Mustafa were shared along with wishes that those killed in the incident would be better off in “paradise”. Samer included photographs with his eulogy, showing Jamal as a middle aged man, and the child Mustafa standing in front of a school chalkboard.
In another post, Gamal Motawa reported on “a new massacre,” sharing an AJA_Palestine video showing men who appeared injured or possibly killed at the hospital entrance. In the opening line, he declared, “Shame on us if we keep quiet, I swear.” Multiple sources noted that those who were caught up in the bombing were “displaced people” waiting at the front of the entrance to the hospital.
All names have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Since October 26, 2023 the MoH has released six lists, along with an additional list of medical professionals, which was released on September 17, 2024. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, the Muqbils were matched to the third ‘Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza’ list, which was released on April 1st, 2024.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to Israeli forces.
The local time of the incident is unknown.
