Airwars Assessment
On June 9th, 2025, an alleged Israeli strike hit a group of civilians who had reportedly gathered to receive humanitarian aid. Among the gathering of civilians at the Dawla (State) intersection, south of the Zeitoun neighbourhood in southeast Gaza City, between one and three civilians were killed and others were injured.
Several sources described the scene as chaotic, with civilians who had arrived to collect aid among the dead and wounded. The outlets Qudsn_Brk, Alarabiya TV, and Palestine Post, among others, reported that the location was being used as a humanitarian distribution site at the time of the strike. One video circulated on social media, shared by Alaraby TV, showed a grieving Palestinian father reportedly bidding farewell to two of his sons, saying: “We don’t want food or drink, we don’t want anything,” in reference to the targeting of civilians who had gathered for aid. Additionally, an image posted by Hamla Kaddour showed a plume of smoke rising in the distance, accompanied by a caption describing “martyrs and wounded as a result of the [Israeli military] targeting aid seekers at the Dawla intersection.”
No names of the fatalities had been confirmed at the time of reporting, and casualty counts varied in early coverage. Some platforms cited three killed, while others described only general reports of killed and wounded. Khbr Press quoted Red Crescent paramedics who confirmed that three killed and a number of wounded had been transferred to the Baptist Hospital in Gaza City.
At this time, no official statement from the suspected belligerent has been identified regarding this specific incident. At the time of reporting, the suspected belligerent was consistently identified across sources as the Israeli military.
