Airwars assessment
A number of civilians were reported killed and injured on November 5, 2023 in a series of alleged Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling on a residential building located 50 meters away from Al-Quds Hospital and the Palestinian Red Crescent Society headquarters in Tal al-Hawa, southwest of Gaza City. Safa News Agency first reported the strikes at 9:55 AM followed by an update at 10:13 AM, indicating that they took place in the morning.
Awdah TV reported that due to the intensity of the strikes, ambulance crews were not able to leave to respond to injuries in the area. The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported that the strikes on the residential building resulted in the building’s destruction. In a video posted by PRCS, emergency workers can be seen carrying a dead or wounded man into al-Quds Hospital while women and children followed behind in distress.
The PRCS reported “a number of injuries and martyrs,” a claim that was repeated by other sources. None provided an exact toll of civilians killed and injured. This assessment will be updated if more precise information emerges.
According to both Awdah TV and Mawtini FM, as well as the Palestine Red Crescent Society, both artillery shelling and airstrikes occurred. Other sources referred to only airstrikes.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all pointed to the Israeli military.
The incident occured at approximately 9:55 am local time.
