On the afternoon of November 6, 2023, at least one civilian, a child, was killed and at least four other people, including a woman, were injured in an alleged Israeli strike on the fifth floor of al-Quds building of the al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City, Gaza Strip that hosted hundreds of displaced people
At 3:51 pm, the Palestinian Press Agency (Safa.ps) reported that according to the Director General of Hospitals in Gaza, there were “martyrs and wounded after [Israeli] aircraft targeted the last floor of the al-Quds building inside the al-Shifa Medical Complex.” At 4:32 pm, the news outlet reported that according to the Director of al-Shifa Medical Complex, the alleged Israeli airstrike “killed a girl and wounded five others, including a woman.”
Reporting the same information, Al Jazeera also shared a video showing a man carrying a dead girl in his arms down a stairwell at the hospital. In a video posted by Facebook user Rosy Trading, “the [Gaza] Ministry of Health holds a press conference on the [Israeli military’s] bombing of the fifth floor of the al-Quds building in the al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza, which includes hundreds of wounded, displaced people and medical personnel.” In the video, the officials say that four displaced persons were killed, one of them a patient in intensive care, and four staff and displaced persons were injured.”
According to the Ministry of Health officials, the bombing “led to the martyrdom of a child, the injury of a woman who is now in the operating room, and the injury of four others.”
Al Jazeera Palestine, Voice of Palestine Radio, and other sources shared a video attributed to @Ismail_alghoull showing the destruction inside the hospital as a result of the bombing. The clip showed mattresses and personal belongings throughout the hospital which had been used by displaced people seeking shelter inside the facility.
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strikes to Israeli forces.
The incident occured in the afternoon.
