On November 6, 2023, a Palestinian Red Crescent paramedic named Ramadan Ashour was injured by alleged Israeli military shelling at the entrance of the al-Quds building of the al-Shifa Medical Complex in the Gaza Strip.
The day of the bombardment, the Palestinian Red Crescent announced “another violation against al-Quds Hospital and medical and ambulance crews in the #Gaza Strip” and shared a photograph of a man in his paramedic uniform with bandages covering part of his head and face.
@PalinfoAr quoted the Palestinian Red Crescent in reporting that “a paramedic was seriously injured in a bombing that targeted the entrance to al-Quds Hospital, in the west of Gaza City.” The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in the Middle East and North Africa (@IFRC_MENA) reported that “Paramedic Ramadan Ashour was injured by shrapnel in the head this morning as a result of the ongoing escalation of violence near al-Quds Hospital. Ramadan is currently receiving treatment in the hospital and his condition is stable. We repeat: Hospitals, medical and ambulance crews, and civilians are #NotATarget.” The IFRC also shared a photo of Ramadan on a hospital bed surrounded by medical personnel as he received treatment for his head injury. In an interview with Mosaique FM, Raed Al-Nams, the media official of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, stated that “the Israeli air force targeted the entrance to the al-Quds Hospital building affiliated with the Palestinian Red Crescent Society with a missile this morning, which resulted in the destruction of ambulances and the injury of a paramedic in the head.”
