Airwars assessment
On November 11th 2023, multiple sources reported the death of 36-year-old Abdulrahman Marwan Al-Nawajha (Abu Jaafar) following an alleged Israeli bombardment in the Sheikh Radwan area of Gaza.
In a post to Facebook, Saed Abu Rizq shared an image of a man sitting on the ground and shared that he had been killed in a bombing in the Sheikh Radwan area of the Gaza Strip.
Sharing the same image, Ibrahim Islam also posted to Facebook to mourn his cousin, Abdulrahman, following the airstrike. Sharing his concern that the family could not properly mourn Abdulrahman, Ibrahim wrote, “We cannot reach him or pray for him and I am not familiar with the rituals of the funeral prayer in absentia.” Mira, another cousin, remembered Abdulrahman for his “well-mannered disposition” and “good reputation” and lauded him for “memoriz[ing] the Book of God.”
Shireen Monitor published on their website to announce the passing of Abdulrahman Marwan Al-Nawajha, revealing that he was 36 years old at the time of his death.
Where possible, names have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Since October 26, 2023 the MoH has released six lists, along with an additional list of medical professionals, which was released on September 15, 2024. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, names are matched to the third ‘Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza’ list, which was released on April 1st, 2024. Due to the attribution in the MoH list, which explicitly mentions that names on the list are “victims of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip”, coupled with attribution by Shireen Monitor to Israeli forces, this incident has been graded as a “likely strike”.
The local time of the incident is unknown.
The victims were named as:
