Shortly before 8 p.m. on 9th November 2023, an alleged Israeli airstrike reportedly struck a residential home belonging to the al-Najjar family on Old Gaza Street in Jabalia, in the northern Gaza Strip. The strike resulted in the deaths of five civilians, including a child and a teenage girl. The home was reportedly destroyed, and casualties were transported to the Indonesian Hospital. The number of those injured remains unknown.

Twitter/X account @Go Gaza first reported the incident at 8 p.m., writing about the bombing of the house of the Al-Najjar family on the old Gaza Street in Jabalia city. Shehab Agency reported the arrival of three casualties and injuries to the Indonesian Hospital at 10:04 PM.

Among the civilians killed were members of the Al-Najjar family: Shaaban Shahdah Shaaban al-Najjar, a man aged 62; Abdullah Muhammad Dardah al-Najjar, a 10-year-old boy; Ruqayya Saadi Ismail al-Najjar, a 17-year-old girl; Muhammad Muhammad al-Mahdi Ismail al-Najjar, a man aged 40; and Muhammad Ahmad Abdul Hadi al-Najjar, a man aged 52. At present, sources have not provided additional biographical information about the victims, such as their professions or family relations, or status.

Where possible, names have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Since October 26, 2023, the MoH has released multiple lists, along with an additional list of medical professionals, which was released on September 17,  2024. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, names are matched to the second, third, and fifth Palestinian Ministry of Health Lists of Fatalities in Gaza, which were released respectively on January 7, 2024, April 1, 2024, and July 24, 2024. The age of Ruqayya Saadi Ismail al-Najjar has been found by cross-checking her name against lists of fatalities shared online by Shireen Monitor, an organisation that has a list of “Martyrs of Palestine” from 2023 onward.

Multiple social media accounts and local news outlets, including Shehab Agency, Quds Feed, and Wattan News, reported the incident, with several stating that three martyrs and other wounded individuals had arrived at the Indonesian Hospital following the airstrike.

Where sources identified a belligerent, all attributed the strike to the Israeli military.
