Last Updated: August 8, 2025

In the early hours of the morning on 10 June 2025, at least seven people, including a woman and two children, were reportedly killed with up to 124 others injured when Israeli military forces allegedly opened fire on people waiting to receive aid near a distribution centre of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation near Salah al-Din street, close to the Wadi Gaza Bridge, in central Gaza.

One of the youngest named victims of the attack was Muhammad Khalil Abdullah al-Athamneh, a child that according to sources including Safa News was between 12 and 14-years-old. Other named victims of the attack included Talib Muslih al-Ghussein, aged 50 to 51; Rami Mohammed Khalil, aged 35 to 37; Asmaa Ahmed Wadi, a woman aged 31 to 32; Abdul Rahman Samir Eid; 17-year-old Hatem Mohammed Shaldan; and 23-year-old Mahmoud Attaf Abu Diya from the city of Beit Lahiya.

Safa News was one of the first to report the attack on 10 June 2025, posting on Twitter/X at 01:16AM a report that people had been injured as a result of gunfire while waiting for aid. By 07:42AM, Safa News was reporting that al-Awda Hospital had stated that the death toll was at three with over 100 injured due to artillery shelling and gunfire from the Israeli military. At 12:27PM, Safa News reported the death of the child Muhammad al-Athamneh.

Multiple sources reported approximately 12 people were killed as a result of the attack including Khalefelkatea via Facebook and Ibrahim Alian, also via Facebook. However some sources, such as a post from Ali Tayassi on Twitter/X, claimed that as many as 28 people were killed in the shooting. Sources widely reported at least 100 injuries, with Khalefelkatea specifying 124 via their Facebook post. Meanwhile, Ibrahim Alian reported at 06:00AM on the day of the attack, that al-Aqsa and al-Awad Hospitals had reported 12 dead and over 100 injuries, of which eight were serious.

Cousins of Talib and Muhammad mourned their passing via Facebook posts. Talib’s cousin, Hussain al-Ghussein, wrote on Facebook that Talib was at the aid distribution centre in the hopes of obtaining some food for him and his starving family.

In a collage of images of the victims posted by @Qadeyah1 on Twitter/X, Rami Khalil is pictured in a red button-up shirt and black suit jacket, young man Abdul Rahman Eid is pictured in a white, dark blue, and red striped shirt, and Talib al-Ghussein is seen in a close-up picture wearing a dark-coloured shirt.

A video posted by Ali Tayassi and originally captured by @ehab_nuor shows thousands of people running in chaos as hundreds of gunshots can be heard in the background amongst people’s screams. Quds_Feed via Twitter/X, later shared an image of some citizens returning from the aid centre with bags of flour in the aftermath.

Where possible, names have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, names are matched to the ninth and tenth ‘Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza’ lists, which were released on June 23 and July 16, 2025, respectively. Additional ages were also found on lists of fatalities shared online by Genocide in Gaza, which has a list of “martyrs” of Israeli forces.

Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to the Israeli Military.
