Shehab Agency first reported the incident at 4:16 PM in a tweet, reporting six casualties and several injuries.
Airwars researchers identified six named victims. 39-year-old Mohamed Abdel Karim Al-Najjar was killed alongside his two sons, 15-year-old Abdel Karim Mohammad Abdel Karim Al-Najjar and 13-year-old Waseem Mohammad Abdel Karim Al-Najjar.
Among the casualties were also a 33-year-old man, Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Al-Najjar, a 24-year-old man, Raed Al-Najjar Abu Rimas (Raed Hamada Mohamed Al-Najjar), and a 39-year-old woman, Sanaa Kian Hamada Al-Najjar.
Where possible, names of the victims have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Since October 26, 2023, the MoH has released multiple lists, along with an additional list of medical professionals, which was released on September 17, 2024. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, most names are matched to the second “Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza”, which was released on January 7, 2024.
Al Jazeera-Palestine posted a video in the afternoon on the 11th of November. The video showed the victims of the reported strike arriving at Nasser Hospital. In the video, one man was shown lying in an ambulance, being wrapped up by the paramedic alongside two mourning men. The paramedic gestures to close the door for privacy. The video continues to show women praying over the wrapped body of one of the killed, whose face was briefly exposed to show him covered in debris and blood. The next part shows a man sitting on steps, hands clasped in front of him as he looks around with obvious distress. In front of him are two bodies in body bags. He is then told to move as they make space on the steps to bring another body down.
Photos of the destruction of the house after the alleged Israeli strikes were shared on Facebook by the user “Arrows of David”. The building looks as if it caved in on itself, with debris all around the front of it. The user also posted photos of men carrying stretchers on their shoulders, running through a large crowd towards the house to retrieve those killed or injured. There was no specific statement from the Israeli military about the strike or who it was targeting.
Several users took to Facebook to publicly mourn the loss of the Al-Najjar family. A cousin in the Al-Najjar family, Mohammed Al-Najjar, posted photos of his cousins with the text, “By God, the heart is saddened and the eye is tearing and we are saddened by your separation, O beloved ones of the heart.” He shared a photo of Sheikh Mohammed Abdul Karim Al-Najjar from 2021 showing a bearded man in a white collared shirt, smiling at the camera alongside a young Abdul Karim and Waseem, his sons. Raed Al-Najjar was shown in another photo posing in a tuxedo, wearing a burgundy bow-tie and matching handkerchief. He had short hair, buzzed at the sides, and a small goatee. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Najjar was also shown in a photo holding a newborn baby. He was a middle-aged man with a trimmed beard and short hair, and was wearing a pink shirt that says “safe haven” across the chest.
Sheikh Mohammed Abdel Karim Al-Najjar was described by his brother-in-law Abeer Al-Najjar as a “devoted preacher” and his sons as “memorizers of the Book of Allah.”
A photo of the two sons, Abdel Karim and Waseem, was posted by their mother’s sister, showing two smiling boys. The elder has short black hair and is wearing glasses and a blue button-down shirt. The younger brother has a rounder face, short black hair, and is wearing a cream coloured shirt. The boys’ school, Martyr Mohammed Al-Durra Secondary School for Boys, also posted a photo of them. The younger son was shown wearing a gray-knit turtleneck sweater with a banner of graduation around him. His brother was shown in another photo with glasses and is wearing a dark sweater with a yellow ribbon around his shoulder. The post included words of condolences and sympathy to the Al-Najjar family.
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to the Israeli military.
