Airwars Assessment
On Tuesday, May 13 2025, at least three members of the Palestinian Civil Defence were reported injured by an alleged Israeli “double tap” shelling while rescuing the Afghani family after their home was bombed earlier that day (assessed separately in incident ISPT130525j) near the customs office east of Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip.
The incident was reported by many local sources, including Shehab News Agency and PalinfoAr. Sources did not initially mention an exact number for the wounded, but Fifth News Network and Al-Haya PS confirmed that three members of the civil defense had been injured. Al-Haya PS also posted on Facebook the picture of one of the personnel being treated in the hospital. He can be seen lying on a stretcher, appearing almost unconscious, in a medical facility surrounded by other civil defense members and medical workers. The identities of the three injured civil defence workers were not published online, though this assessment will be updated if more information emerges.
In addition, X/Twitter user, Talal Al-Kurdi wrote that the area was hit by intense shelling which caused extensive damage to civilians homes and that the bombardment resumed shortly after the civil defence team reached the site.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to Israeli forces.
