An unknown number of civilians were reported injured in shelling that took place in shelter centers in the Abu Zeitoun area of Jabalia Refugee Camp, North Gaza on December 4, 2023.

News agencies including Shehab Agency and Al-Arabiya Palestine reported “violent and successive bombardments” and “heavy shelling” in the area in which civilians were sheltering. Though there were reports of “injuries,” no further details could be found on the number or identities of the victims.

Video of the incident posted to social media shows large plumes of smoke in the sky from a distance, reportedly marking the area where the shelling occurred.

As no belligerent was explicitly mentioned in reports of the shelling, this incident has been graded as ‘Contested.’
