On June 15th, 2025, several sources reported that Israeli naval forces (gunboats) allegedly opened fire on displaced Palestinians waiting for aid on Rashid Street, west of Gaza City, allegedly killing a 44-year-old man and injuring others. The attack was reportedly carried out by gunboats while people were gathered in anticipation of humanitarian assistance.
Rami Mosbah Jumaa Abu Qura (Abu Muhammad) was named by multiple relatives and community members as killed in the incident. According to Rami’s profile on the website Genocide in Gaza, he was 44 years old and was married.
The tributes from family and friends poured in on Facebook. Rami’s nephew Ahmed Abu Qura mourned: “My uncle, the martyr Rami Mosbah Jumaa Abu Qura… you have broken our hearts.” Similar tributes were posted by others including Salah Emad, who wrote, “The martyrdom of my uncle and beloved Rami Abu Qura,” and Ali Y Mahrouq, who described him as “the kind-hearted, dear to our hearts, my cousin.”
The images of Rami attached to the social media posts showed a middle-aged man with a shaved head dressed in a white shirt. A Facebook post by Abo Ahmed also showed an image of the dead body of Rami wrapped in a white shroud where the date of his death was written. Several men were caressing his face, bidding a farewell to the man.
The incident was described across multiple platforms as targeting civilians seeking aid, and most of the reports also mentioned injuries. According to Mohamed Awad, “a martyr and injuries [occurred] after the [Israeli] gunboats opened fire on displaced people while they were waiting for aid.” Others, such as Dr. Sondus Alsaidi, condemned the attack as “the despicable and vile act of the [Israeli military]… killing the hungry.” Posts by media outlets, including Radio Jordan, Al-Quds Channel, and Al-Hadath Newspaper, corroborated the reports of casualties during aid distribution.
Rami’s name has been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, names are matched to the tenth ‘Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza’ list, which was released on July 16, 2025.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the strikes to the Israeli military.
