At dawn on March 18th, 2025, a reported Israeli airstrike targeted a residential structure in the Nuseirat refugee camp, located in the central Gaza Strip. The strike resulted in the deaths of multiple members of the Abu Seif family. 25-year-old Shaimaa Mahmoud Ibrahim Wshah was killed, as was her brother-in-law, 26-year-old Ghassan Mahir Motar Abu Seif. Ghassan’s wife, Sarah Abd al-Rahman Omar Sabah (Abu Seif) was killed with her son, 11-month-old Seif Ghassan Maher Abu Seif. Ghassan’s brother, Dima Maher Abu Seif, was also reported killed.
The strike also killed Naji Maher Abu Seif (also known as Abu Hamza), the spokesperson for the Al-Quds Brigade. The “Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine” announced his death. As such, Naji Maher Abu Seif has been categorised as a militant, and has not been included in the civilian casualty count for this incident. Naji Maher Abu Seif was the husband of Shimaa Wishah and the brother of Ghassan.
Al Hadath shared a video depicting scenes from the targeted residence, showing significant destruction. All available sources, including official statements from the Islamic Jihad Movement and various news outlets, uniformly attributed responsibility for the strike to the Israeli military.
Where possible, names have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers.
