On March 18th, 2025, two members of the Abed family – 66-year-old Suad Muhammad Hussein Abed and her son, 24-year-old Muhammad Jamal Abdel Rahman Abed – were reportedly killed, and others were injured when an alleged Israeli strike hit their home in the al-Qarara area of the Jiyeh neighborhood in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip. Friends and relatives offered prayers, with one post by Duaa Al-Muqaddamah addressing Suad as her aunt.

Images shared by many social media accounts showed Muhammad Abed in graduation attire, widely shared in tribute to him – Muhammad appears to have graduated in 2023. Other friends remembered him as “a dear friend and brother”, mourning the loss of both mother and son in what one post from Fawzi Al Tawil described as a bombing that struck their home shortly before iftar, as the attack occurred during Ramadan. Another account posted condolences to the wider Abed family, emphasizing their standing in the al-Qarara community.

Both names have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared.
