At dawn on Tuesday, 18 March 2025, an alleged Israeli bombing struck the home of the al-Hamaideh family in Khan Younis governorate in the southern Gaza Strip without prior warning, killing six civilians, one woman and her five children. Although most of the sources mentioned the location as the southern Gaza Strip, the website Genocide in Gaza indicated the location of the Hamaideh family home as Khan Younis governorate.

According to local reports and family testimonies, the victims were 34-year-old Hadeel Naeem al-Hamaideh and her children, three boys and two girls: five-year-old Tariq Ziad Salem al-Hamaideh, 12-year-old Mohammed Naeem Ziad Salem al-Hamaideh, 14-year-old Lana Ziad Salem al-Hamaideh, eight-year-old Aya Ziad Salem al-Hamaideh, and a one-year-old infant, Wateen Ziad Salem al-Hamaideh.

Community posts by relatives, including Baraa al-Hamaideh and Haytham al-Hamaideh, confirmed the deaths, naming each family member and mourning them as victims of the attack. Baraa al-Hamaideh, in particular, mourned the family of his brother Abu Anas, who lost his wife and five children in the devastating attack. Twitter/X user @FayezShamm1823 ironically wrote “These are the five terrorists and their mother”, emphasising that the victims were all small children and their mother.

Many social media sources shared the collage of the images of five children. A teenage boy Mohammed, wearing a black jacket with a hood; a teenage girl Lana, happily smiling in a photo while standing outdoors, wearing a pink pullover; a smiling boy Tariq, wearing a red T-shirt and a grey hat; a small girl Aya in a red dress with big yellow buttons and a white collar, captured together with her elder sister Lana; and an infant boy Wateen, wearing an aquamarine T-shirt.

Where sources identified the belligerent, all attributed the strike to the Israeli military.

Where possible, names have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, names are matched to the eighth ‘Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza’ list, which was released on March 24, 2025. Additional ages have been found by cross-checking names against lists of fatalities shared online by Genocide in Gaza (GIGaza) (https://gigaza.org/) website, which has a list of the names of “martyrs” from Israeli forces and includes the name of the victim, their age, their date of death, and the circumstances of their death.
