At dawn of March 18, 2025 – the day hostilities resumed following a ceasefire – Muhannad Ismail Muhammad Mahra was killed in an alleged Israeli airstrike. According to sources, the 25-year-old man was near a medical point in Jabalia Refugee Camp, which was hit by the airstrike, killing Muhannad.
Friends and family took to social media to mourn the loss of their loved one. Sharing photographs of Muhannad, they lamented how a smiling and happy young man had been lost to the violence of the war. According to Raafat Ahmed Shaheen, Muhannad was seen by his friends and community as someone with a kind heart.
Sharing their grief at the loss of their friend, Najat Omar opined how “after the death of a friend, you will know very well the meaning of the supplication ‘May God mend your broken heart.’” He grieved that now he had lost his friend, he would no longer feel complete joy in his life, and that his sadness would not end. In the post, he asked, “O God, do not extinguish the light of [Muhannad’s] grave, do not deprive him of the pleasure of your bliss, and unite us with him in the gardens of bliss.”
Muhannad’s name has been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, the name was matched to the eighth ‘Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza’ list, which was released on March 24, 2025.
