On 18 July 2024, two people were reportedly killed and up to eight people injured when an Israeli drone strike allegedly hit al-Falah School near the gates of the complex in the al-Zaytoun neighbourhood of southeastern Gaza City. According to Ramallah News, the school, located near al-Shafi’i Mosque, was reportedly an UNRWA-affiliated school that was housing displaced people at the time of the strike.

While no names were given for those reportedly killed or injured, the majority of sources stated that two people had been killed. While initial reports cited five people injured, later sources increased this figure to eight. This assessment will be updated if more information about the victims emerges.

PalestineTV shared a video from the scene of the alleged Israeli attack on Facebook. The video showed the extent of the devastation, with walls and ceilings collapsed and a vast amount of rubble littering the site. It appeared that part of the roof of the building had also been damaged, and at least a portion of one floor of the building had fully collapsed. A number of children were visible at the site in the video.

Palestine Voice Radio via Facebook shared a video of an injured person arriving at the hospital in the aftermath of the attack. The young man was being carried on a makeshift stretcher and had a visible head injury. Karar_almarani via Twitter/X reported that those injured in the attack were taken to the nearby Baptist Hospital.

While names were not shared of those allegedly injured in the attack, Lawyer ala’a Hussain via Facebook reported that a young person from their family had been injured in the attack and they were praying for their “speedy recovery.”

Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to the Israeli military.
