Airwars Assessment
In the early morning of Wednesday, March 19, 2025, an alleged Israeli airstrike hit a tent sheltering displaced people in the Dutch neighbourhood next to Al-Hanawi School and Asdaa Prison, north of Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip. Two people – a pregnant woman and her child – were killed and at least three were injured.
The victims were named as 27-year-old Rasha Nidal Ibrahim Abu Hindi and her child, one-year-old infant Amir Siraj Al-Hamidi, who had fled from the Rafah Governorate.
Where possible, the names of the victims have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Since October 26, 2023, the MoH has released a number of lists, along with an additional list of medical professionals, which was released on September 17, 2024. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, names are matched to the eighth “Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza”, which was released on March 24, 2025.
Most sources, including Sa7atPlBreaking, Sama News, Asharq News Palestine, and Fifth News Network, reported three injured individuals who, along with the two deceased, were transported to the Nasser Medical Complex. Video shared by Sa7atPlBreaking showed the extensive damage wrought by the strike – a man stands over scattered belongings and a bloodied mattress. The strike caused the tent to be “set on fire.”
Further information on the wounded was not made available. Airwars will update the incident should new information become available.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to Israeli forces.
