On September 24, 2024, at around 17:00, Israeli aircraft allegedly bombed the house of the Al-Wasify family near the Al Ahly Club in Nuseirat Refugee Camp in the middle of the Gaza Strip. Sixteen civilians, from multiple families, were reported killed with sources reporting that 11 other civilians were injured in the incident.

Local sources revealed the names of 16 people killed in the attack. Among them were Ikhlas Hamdan Al-Hour, who was pregnant at the time; her four children, Solaf Osama Al-Wasify, Suwar Osama Al-Wasify, Salam Osama Al-Wasify, Sa’aed Osama Al-Wasify; and Ikhlas’s sister Nour Hamdan Al-Hour.

Lana Mohammed Wasfi Al-Wasify and her brother, Wasfi Mohammed Wasfi Al-Wasify were also killed in the incident.

The next group of family members killed were Bakr Al-Tayeb and his wife, Islam Al-Tayeb (Misran), along with their two daughters Saba Bakr Al-Tayeb and Asmaa Bakr Al-Tayeb.

Yamen Ahmed Misran; his brother, Mohammad Ahmed Misran; and his cousin, Akram Amer Misran were also identified as victims who died from the airstrike. According to a post by @qudsn, Rabie Amer Misran died in the following days after he succumbed to his injuries on September 27, 2024.

Friends and family took to social media to mourn the loss of their loved ones. Several posts sought refuge and solace from their faith and asked God to “reward and comfort” those who were impacted by this tragedy. A post by Nirmeen Shaheen pleaded “Oh God enough pain, enough loss. God we are tired, Our hearts are broken … Children like angels, oh God, what is their sin? God the mind is unable to comprehend” as she shared the list of the children and lost family members and neighbours who were killed in this incident. In a similar vein, Nabed Al Shar’a, asked “Oh Lord, stop the war, the heart bleeds with sadness over the separation of friends and relatives one after the other” along with images of at least six different children, a young man in a white doctors coat, and another young man in a white shirt and jacket.

Sharing the news of the incident to Facebook, Dream 2024 and Abu Hashim Al Asali posted the names of Ikhlas Hamdan Al-Hour’s four children and implored: “For those who still care, Gaza is being destroyed” along with the hashtag “Not a scene from a movie” and an image of four smiling young children.

According to Al Nusirat Al Raesia, the home which was struck belonged to Abu Osama Al-Wasify. A post from Khaled Misran summarised that those killed were “the sons and daughters of our cousin Abu Osama Al-Wasifi (Misran), and the sons of our cousin Ahmed Mahmoud Misran, and the son of our cousin Amer Misran.”

Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to Israeli forces. Ultrapal News reported that an Israeli shell hit the home while other local sources referenced the attack as an airstrike.
