According to local reports, 35-year-old Hassan Ali Othman Muqdad (Abu Ali), a fisherman in Gaza, was killed on the morning of 27th June, 2025. He was working in his boat off the coast of Gaza City with Mohammed Mushil Muqdad, who was injured in the attack allegedly carried out by Israeli naval forces. A photo shared on Twitter and Facebook shows a cloud of dark grey smoke rising from the water.
Hassan was reportedly taken to Al-Shifa Hospital. A video shows a group of men carrying him from the shore to the mainland. Osama Abu Foul wrote in a Facebook post, “My friend, the fisherman, the good man, the lion, the well-mannered human being, Hassan Ali Othman Muqdad Abu Ali, was martyred at sea today. To God we belong and to Him we shall return.”
Facebook user Ahmed Jber shared an image of the dead body of Hassan, lamenting, “Hassan Shahid, the heart is saddened and the eyes shed tears, and we are truly saddened by your departure, Hassan. We only say what pleases God. To God we belong and to Him we shall return.”
Hassan’s name has been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Since October 26, 2023, the MoH has released a number of lists, along with an additional list of medical professionals, which was released on September 17, 2024. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, names are matched to the tenth “Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza”, which was released on July 16, 2025.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the strikes to the Israeli military.
