During the evening of Monday, December 12, 2023, around 9:18 p.m., a civilian was slightly injured by an airstrike reportedly perpetrated by Jordanian warplanes in Bir Al-Dawla, located in the south of the town Al Mata’iya in the eastern countryside of the Daraa Governorate.
According to the sources, the site was Al Mata’iya dam located between the Syrian border 63 and 64, a public facility with solar panels and water cells that had been destroyed as a result of the incident The Twitter/X user @salahmalkawi11 posted a screenshot of the exact incident location. The airstrike injured the caretaker of the facilities, who was subsequently taken to the hospital.
At 9:18 PM, Twitter/X user @Ahmad_1alshble wrote that an explosion shook throughout Daraa Governorate, amid reports of an airstrike by Jordanian aircraft targeting a site on the outskirts of the town of Al-Mataya in the eastern countryside of Daraa. He added an image where a huge cloud of smoke can be seen over the night skyline.
Horan Free Media posted a photo taken during the night where solar panels were destroyed and multiple sources posted others of the smoke from the bombing too. The destruction of the facility affected the population since it operated after a donation campaign organized by the citizens and supplied the town with drinking water.
News outlet Daraa24 as well as social media users like Abo sabt kofare and @damascusv011 identified the Jordanian military as the attackers.
The incident occured at approximately 9:18 pm local time.
