Five al-Shabaab militants were killed by alleged Kenyan Defense Forces airstrikes on the town of Gherille near the Kenyan-Somalia border on July 13, 2023.

A tweet from @CrimeBusterKe reported that the Kenyan Defense Forces killed carried out an airstrike in Gherille which killed five militants in a technical vehicle.

The airstrikes occurred in the same area where al-Shabaab militants had attacked a former ATMIS base twice which was handed over to the Somali National Army three weeks before, with the strikes coming on the same day that the al-Shabaab militants seized the base.
