According to local and international news, the US carried out a drone strike in Haider Khel, north Waziristan, killing up to six alleged militants and wounding as many as 15.

Through local officials, Long War Journal reported that unmanned Predators or Reapers fired two missiles at a militant compound in the village. The reputed compound of Zafar Khan, was allegedly linked to Hafiz Gul Bahadur.

The death toll spanned from three to six across the reports. All but one specified that the killed were militants. However, Xinhua reported, as the only one, that three “people” were killed, indicating possible civilian casualties.

According to a secret Pakistani record of CIA drone strikes: “The killed persons were Turkman [sic].” It is not clear if this is referring to people from Turkmenistan or Uighurs from so-called Turkistan, the western Chinese province of Xinjiang.

The document, published by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism in January 2014, also said two people were injured. However Pajhwok said up to 15, described as militants, were injured.
