Up to seven alleged militants, but possibly counting civilians, were killed and three people were injured, in a suspected US drone attack on a house or compound in Assar Madd Khel, Datta Khel, north Waziristan, local and international media reported.
The death toll spanned from three to as many as seven with all but one describing the killed as militants. Xinhua, who put the lowest death toll namely said that three “people” were killed, suggesting civilian causalities.
In January 2014 the Bureau of Investigative Journalism published a secret Pakistan government record of CIA drone strikes. The document said six people were killed in this attack that hit at 2105. “The killed militants were Panjabis from Badar al Mansoor group.” Badar Mansoor was reportedly killed in February 2012.
Moreover, while the South Asia Terrorism Portal said that up to seven were killed, specified as being militants, it merely reported that three “people” were wounded.
All known reports said that a US drone was behind the strike.
