Between four and six alleged TTP militants were killed and five “others” were injured in a suspected US drone strike on a house and car in Spalaga, north Waziristan, local and international media reported. Civilians were possibly among the casualties.

Following the strike, a senior security official in Miranshah, cited by AFP, said: “US drones fired six missiles targeting a militant vehicle and a nearby rebel compound owned by a Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) leader, Rahimullah, killing six militants.”

The target was reported to be local TTP leader Rahimullah (his status is unknown).

Sources put the death toll between four and six, along with five wounded. Most specified that the casualties were militants.

However, civilian harm cannot be ruled out, as first of all, an internal Pakistan government record of CIA drone strikes, published by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism in January 2014, said this strike killed four locals, meaning people from the tribal region – thus possible civilians.

Secondly, the five wounded were by some neither specified as being militants.

All known sources said that a US drone was behind the second strike in Waziristan on March 13th (the first detailed in Ob198).
