Local and international news reported that an alleged US strike killed up to six people, most likely militants but possibly counting civilians, as a moving vehicle was struck in Malik Jashdar, north Waziristan.
Reports said how the moving truck was attacked and exploded in or near a village, killing up to six people including two “Arabs” – a term often used to describe foreign militants.
The News noted local tribesmen as saying that “body parts of the slain men lay scattered all along the road and in nearby fields. Later, when the drones disappeared, the villagers collected the body parts and buried them,” who, based on the body parts, assessed that four people had been killed.
Generally, the death toll spanned from three to six, mainly described as militants.
However, because two sources, Monsters and Critics and The News, both putting the death toll at four, did not specify the status of the killed, the possibility of civilian fatalities cannot be ruled out.
All known sources attributed the strike to a US drone.
