A US drone allegedly carried out at least two strikes in Kurram Agency on June 20th, the first strike described in Ob222, the second below and the third in Ob223c.

In the second strike of the day in Kurram, reportedly taking place just 15 minutes after the first strike, a house was struck and between two and seven people were killed, local and international news reported.

While many sources reported that a total of up to 12  people – by some referred to as militants – were killed in the first two strikes, the death toll in the second strike was thus specified by others to maximum reaching seven. The highest toll was reported by al-Jazeera, who said that all seven killed were militants. Generally, several claimed that the killed were militants, said to be mainly Afghanis.

The local political administration gathered data on the drone strikes in a secret document that the Bureau of Investigative Journalism published in January 2014. It said two people were killed in this strike – both non-locals.

However, because several reports, providing overall figures of the fatalities from this day, described the killed as “people” and not specified as militants, civilian harm cannot be ruled out.
