Up to six people, hereof five reported as civilians, including one child, were killed along with two injured as an alleged US-waged drone strike hit a house in Tappi, north Waziristan, local and international media reported.
In what was initially described as an attack on alleged militants at a former school, reports said that between four and six militants were killed. Balochistan Times reported how “the US drone fired two missiles at a school building, which destroyed the building and killed six people and injured two others. Official sources said the school building was being used as hideout by the militants.”
However, a later report claimed that the strike had hit a house belonging to a Zamir Gul, which killed five members of his family.
Photographer Noor Behram, cited by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism, visited the scene and met with survivors, namely reported that “the attack killed three sons and two daughters-in-law of Zamir Gul. The youngest son killed in this attack was 14 years old.”
Also, hovering drones are said to have prevented villagers from providing assistance, as reported by GeoTV.
Behram also said that ‘Zamir Gul no longer interacts with anyone in the village and has become a loner following the attack.’
All known sources said that a US drone was behind the incident.
