Up to nine people were killed, most likely militants but some possibly civilians, local and international media reported following an alleged US drone strike on a house in Machi Khel, North Waziristan at 9.20pm.

Sources reported at least seven and as many as nine militant fatalities, adding that “several” other militants were injured in the evening attack on a house containing suspected militants. Pakistani intelligence documents obtained by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism report 9 fatalities of which 3 were foreign militants.

Xinhua, however, merely reported that three “people” were killed and that “many more” were injured, why it, as of now, cannot be excluded that civilians were among the victims, despite being a weak allegation.

All known sources said a US drone was behind the strike. According to GeoTV, “US Predators have fired three missiles in Markikhel.”
