The US allegedly carried out two strikes in north Waziristan on May 11th, the first took place in Datta Khel (covered in Ob91) while the second took place in Gurwak and is detailed in this entry.

In this strike, Reuters reported: “the second attack was on a militant camp on the border with Afghanistan, some distance from the first strike. Two missiles killed at least 10 militants, intelligence officials and residents said.” Most sources described the targeted site as a “militant camp.”

One source, The News, reported that the location was the ‘hideout’ of Maulvi Sadiq Noor, a militant commander.

Overall, between seven and 15 suspected militants were reported killed while up to four people were injured.

A secret Pakistan government record – published by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism – of drone strikes listed eight locals killed in this attack.

As sources did not specify whether the wounded where militants or civilians, they will, as of now, be considered as possibly being civilians.
