One woman was killed by an alleged Russian artillery shell which hit a shop on Klochkivska street in Kharkiv on February 28, 2022.
The Kharkiv Human Rights Group reported that a woman’s legs were torn off by shelling near the Arbuz store on Klochkivskyi Street in the afternoon of February 28th and that she was taken away by an ambulance. According to Igor Artamonov via Facebook, the woman had been standing in line at the Arbuz store at the time of the shelling.
@amnesty tweeted that according to the Guardian, the injured woman later died of her injuries.
A graphic video posted by @LarinaOlga shows the injured woman laying on the ground and a few meters away was her foot which was ripped off.
Izvestia.kharkov News specified that the shelling occurred in the Shevchenkiv district of the city and that the injured woman lost both of her legs.
A Facebook post from Viktor Polak specified that the shelling was carried out by Russian forces.
Ukrainian Telegram channel based in Kharkiv with local correspondents in the city called Kharkov Nash posted on Telegram that it wouldn’t make sense for Russian troops to shell Klochkivska if Ukrainian troops were stationed in Pyatichkivka but goes on to say “there could be anything, so we are not making any assertions”.
